Incoming letters / 届いたお手紙

Here are the lovely incoming letters I received in the last couple of weeks.  My mailbox has been really happy. :D

This is from my lovely pal in UK.  She enclosed some magazine clippings about how to improve your sleeping quality.  I think it’s a nice idea to share an article with your pal and talk about it.  You might find some nice tips for your life that you won’t find it in your own country. :)  I thought of looking for some articles as well but then realized that I first had to translate the Japanese into English. :p  By the way, what do you do to have good sleep?  I usually take a long bath or have a tea without caffeine. :)
This is from my pal in Poland.  Her last letter got lost, so I’m really happy that this time it arrived here safely.  It’s always disappointing to find out that the letter went missing, but maybe like my pal’s letter that was first sent to Jamaica and then to Japan taking over 6 months, your letter might show up someday. ;)
I love the stamp. :)
And last but not the least, this is from my dear pal in UK.  Her package was stuck in my mailbox, so I had to pull out with force. :D  I wish my mailbox had a “bigger mouth”.  When I opened the package, I smelled something very delicious, and it was this Hello Kitty gummy.  She also enclosed some chocolates and tea bags for me.  She knows me very well. :D
Wonderful stamps!  I love the one with a guy having a big smile. :D
I’m proud of myself that I managed to take pictures of chocolates and gummy before I eat them.  I’m always so fast to eat sweets. :)

Now I have some letters to write back.  Excited! :D

  1. Sending articles with your letters is really fun. But I have the same problem as you, I would have to transate them from Dutch to English most of the time.
I received a card today my pen-friend already gave up on. Sent: 4th of June! So who knows when lost letters turn up.

    1. I've been looking for some articles of maybe 10-15 lines so that it wouldn't take too long to translate it into English, but so far no luck. :p

4th of June? Wow it took so long to be delivered! Where did the card come from?

  2. Interesting idea with sending articles. I don't do that but if something weird happens in Poland at the time I write a letter I mention it sometimes:)

    1. I do that, too. :) Earlier I read an article about "divorce ceremony" where the couple announce their divorce in front of their family and friends and smash their marriage rings with a hammer. It was also on the TV, so I wrote about it in my letters. My pals were like "Are you sure you read about this?", but I DID read about it! ;) Strange, hey?

  3. I have send a recipe to a friend from a magazine, but I had to translate it. So I did. It was soooo hard and I think I will never do something like that again.
I`m not that into stamps, but the one with the guy with big smile is really amazing!

    1. Sending a recipe is a good idea. I should try that! I'm not sure if they can find all the ingredients in their country though. :p

And yes! I love that smiling guy on the stamp! :D

  4. Lovely incoming you have! I also love the idea of sending magazine articles to my friends, but I would also have to translate. People living in English speaking countries are lucky, because that's easier to them. xD

    1. Thanks! My mailbox has been really happy lately. :) Yes, they're lucky! XD Sometimes I send articles with many pictures just for fun. They don't understand what the article is talking about it really, but they usually enjoy the pictures and sometimes even guess what the article is about. It's more like a quiz. lol

    2. Haha, that quiz would be fun! I would like to receive a Japanese article because I like looking for a few characters that I know (I can translate the words in katakana, which is the easier part, as they're mostly in English, right?).

    3. Oh, you know katakana? Cool! Yes, they're mostly in English. And we also have lots of words that we adopted from other languages, and some are from Portuguese. For example, our sweet called "konpeitou" is from your "confeito", "onbu" meaning "piggyback" is from "ombro", our raincoat "kappa" is from "capa"...interesting, hey? :D

  5. Wow! *-* Once I sent a tourist magazine of Mexico City to "GotThatSwing" because she can read spanish hahaha. There are few magazines in english here (and they're very expensive!).

    1. Tourist magazine is always fun to look at, esp. with the one with many pictures. :) And in Japan, too. Magazines in English can be more expensive. :(
