Christmas stamps / 切手購入

Do you make a mess when you're writing a letter?  I do.  I make a big mess.  Big big mess.  I have to have everything on the table - lettersets, stickers, tapes, glue, things that I want to put in the envelope like teabags, postcards etc.  I don't know why, but I have to do this to get myself in a writing mood.  Last night my husband started complaining why he only gets a book-size space on the table for himself while I get the rest for letter-writing items. lol  Sorry, but we don't have neither a study nor a space for a desk in our apartment, so I have to write letters at the dining table.  Plus he's married to a penpaller. :p  But he thinks not all penpallers necessarily make a mess and some would only need a pen and paper on the table when writing a letter.  So here is my question again.  Do you make a mess when you're writing a letter?  If I get many "yes" answers, I will tell him how normal I am to make a mess.  If many of the answers are "no", then I will just pretend that most answers were yes. :p

I didn't have time to go to the post office but finally bought some Christmas stamps.  At the first post office I went, 80yen stamps (snow flake ones) were sold out, so I had to go to another post office.  Glad I could buy them both. :)

They're pretty, and I love them. :)  I've been calling these stamps "Christmas stamps", but they're actually not.  They're called "winter greeting stamps."  Some years they have nice Christmas designs with Santa Claus and Christmas tree, but some years like this year the designs are more for the winter than Christmas.  I still love these stamps though. :)

Hope you're enjoying nice weekend!

  1. Cute stamps! Yes, I too make a mess when I write letters, I need everything within reach while I'm writing. Getting up all the time to take something and to put it back interrupts my writing flow.

    1. Good that you make a mess! lol Same with me. When I'm writing, I want to concentrate on the letter and don't want to get up to get something. :)

  2. Absolutely ADORABLE stamps!! I definitely prefer those over the Finnish Christmas stamps! :)
And for your question, YES! I make a horrible mess and it's just not my desk, it can be the whole room as I need to get everything within my reach and if there's no space I tend to leave those on my bed which is behind me while I write :) I don't like to move that much while writing, only to get more tea :)

    1. Thanks! This year doesn't have much "Christmas spirit" in the stamps, but I still love them. I love the snow flake ones. They're so cute! :)

Wahaha, horrible mess! That sounds familiar! :D I sometimes do the same thing. If I don't have a space on the table, I start putting stuff around myself on the floor. It's really funny that all we need should be a pen and paper to write a letter, but like you see other comments often we make a mess! lol But I guess that's what's so fun about letter-writing. :)

  3. Not necessary to lie to your husband: me too, I make a mess (but happily we have two tables). Oh, the hard life of the husbands of inveterate snailmailers! :)

The stamps are very nice. I like specially the snowflakes. Yes, they are more winter than Christmas stamps. So they are appropriate to be send to people who don't celebrate Christmas too.

    1. He's very understanding about my hobby but still doesn't understand why on earth I have to have that many stuff to write a letter. lol Same with the stamps. When I showed him new Christmas stamps, he was like "Really nice! But why do you need to buy another one if you have so many stamps already?" lol I have to buy it because it's nice! :D

That's what I thought, too. I have some pals who don't celebrate Christmas, but I can still use these stamps for them. :)

    1. Hahaha! That sounds familiar! And it must be really hard not to make a mess esp. when you're crafting! My friend is into crafting, and she said there is no way she can craft without her own table. :)

  5. Beautiful Stamps!!!! I wish India released stamps on Christmas as well but unfortunately they don't.Regarding the mess while writing letters or cards, looks like I am not alone in this at all. Everyone is like that and I feel there is nothing wrong in that at all. Strangely enough,I am happy to know that....Have a wonderful day!!!!

  6. Also I make a mess when writing/making mail. And (alas for my DH), I do so not only when being busy mailing... :-|

Here in the Netherlands the xmas stamps are called 'December stamps'. Most of the years the pictures show Christmas - and sometimes also New Year's Eve - scenes, but also there are years that they show only winter scenery. I agree with Hawwa, this makes them appropriate for every occasion. The December stamp rate is not sufficient for international post. So I also use these to add to the regular national stamps, for my mail to countries outside of the Netherlands, so the receiver will get something different from the usual Dutch 'Europe' or 'World' stamp.

    1. Oh, so you have different stamps for Europe and outside Europe?! Regular national stamps, too? Here, we have to do the math (which I hate). You can use any stamps to anywhere as long as your math is correct and necessary price of stamps appear on the envelope.

  7. I don`t make mess while writing, but you made me laugh with "then I will just pretend that most answers were yes".
I really, really like those stamps! I don`t think we have winter or Christmas stamps.
